From Ilchi Lee’s book BEST 5 Handbook, “What did you see in the mirror this morning? Your face, age, emotions? These are not everything you are. If a person were concerned only with what is visible to the eye and spent an entire life laughing and crying because of these concerns, wouldn’t it truly be heartbreaking?  When you look in the mirror, do not look at your body. Instead, close your eyes and try to see yourself.” See your true self and soul, so different and more wondrous than the body and mind in the mirror.

Where do the answers to our questions, big and small, come from? Most people would say from the outside, based on gathering information and asking experts for their opinions. But Ilchi Lee’s book BEST 5 Handbook contends, “All of the answers to life’s challenges reside in the brain. If we can release that potential, I believe that humanity can solve many of the world’s difficult challenges. This is also true for you on a personal level. Do you have too much stress in your life? Relaxing your brain waves can have a profound effect on the stress reaction in your body. Do you have relationship problems? Examining the addictive emotional patterns established in your brain will help you begin to change them, which will in turn change your interactions with others. Every human problem is created in the brain, and so is every solution. Through better understanding and care of our brain, we gain greater confidence and capacity for mastering all our life skills.” Very reassuring and it has been inside of us all the time! We just need to ask and it shall be given.

We hear again and again that we are the creators of our lives and that we have infinite creative potential inside of us. Why then do we struggle so with change and creative outcomes? According to Ilchi Lee’s book BEST 5 Handbook, “It is your ego that prevents you from creating what you truly want.  Your ego says to you, ‘I am this’ or ‘I should be that,’ which often prevents you from creating what you want in your life. These things are usually rooted in your past experiences, times when you were hurt by others or were discouraged in some way.”

Am I a spiritual person? Are you a spiritual person? It really is helpful to have a clear definition of term to get to know yourself others and myself. Ilchi Lee in his book BEST 5 Handbook lays our a useful definition,” A spiritual person is anyone who conscientiously tries to live according to his or her highest spiritual values. This definition could apply to anyone and is not limited to those who follow a particular religious faith. Being spiritual means to consistently seek truth and meaning for your life and to do your best to live according to the principles that you discover.”

3. Check

In looking back over the week, you notice that you did not eat vegetables at two lunches at work. The overcooked steamed veggies at the cafeteria were unappealing to you, so you only had an entree.

2. Do

You make a conscious effort to eat a serving of vegetables at every meal and fruit as a dessert or snack.  You succeed except for two days, on which you eat only four servings.

Plan: Devise a Process to get results

You decide to start eating at least five servings of fruits and vegetables a day over the course of one week.  You will also track all your food choices in a journal.

All my troubles seemed to far away, now it looks as though they’re here to stay, oh I believe in Yesterday.

Suddenly, I’m not half the man I use to be.  There’s a shadow hiding over me, oh Yesterday, came suddenly.
